Behind the scenes, preparing to shoot

I put an element of my preparation on the main blog too, but I thought it was important to mention on here as it needed to be done before we could shoot the tutorial.  Meg my model doesn't get her hair done very often, she's a student and like many others can't really afford it.  I didn't even think to check when I asked her to model as her hair is dark.  As soon as she took it down she had massive roots and no shape whatsoever.  I knew this would look terrible on camera.  I had to colour her roots first using 1/2 3/0 & 1/2 4/0 colour touch by Wella with 3% peroxide.  I refreshed the ends for the last 10 mins.  Finally we cut layers and a long fringe layer to give shape and definition when curling.  It wasn't until we finished that I realised how damaged and flyaway Meg's hair was.  It was very to hard to style and didn't hold very well at all.  I thought about using a different model but I feel it's important to show all hair types, skin types etc.   My readers will want to know that they can all achieve the looks (where possible).  I will make sure to always use a good variation of models for my tutorials.

Why I chose to interview people

My first two interviews are with good friends of mine.  I want to continue interviewing as many professionals as I can who are relevant to what i'm talking about.  I don't claim to be good or know everything, so I think it's so much better if you can get inside knowledge about the subject from someone who does.  Because there are elements of Fashion in my blog my first port call was my fashion designer friend Debbie a.k.a Lola Loves.  She is a fashion designer so I know she will always give me good advice.  She's amazing and has a great sense of style so I thought she would be interesting for my readers too.  My second choice was Fabulous Fallon or Miss Fallon Dee (her stage name).  She is a professional dancer and Burlesque performer, I wanted to do a feature on Burlesque so who better to talk to.  She is such a quirky character and so much fun.  I love her and I know my readers would find her so much fun too.

Where the title came from

My title simply came from a lyric from the song Gimme More by Britney Spears.  The opening line is It's Britney Bitch.  I don't know why but I just love it.  She's not being rude or criticising anyone it's just a bold statement saying i'm here bitch and you better listen.  I just felt it worked for my blog (and I love Britney of course haha!).  I want to grab people's attention, i'm not a bitch, well not a complete one. I just think a strong title will make people stop and look.  Also any Britney fans out there will definitely get where i'm coming from with it.  Britney always pays respect to her Gay fans with song titles like It's Britney Bitch and You Better Work Bitch.  I know that this will reach out to a broader audience (the girls and the gays) and that's what I want to achieve.

Creating the concept for the blog

I came up with the idea for my blog from being an avid fan of Fashion Police.  I loved and still love the late Joan Rivers, so it's sort of a homage to her really.  I know I could never give that comedic value like she does and do it justice so I've just used certain features like Bitch! Stole my look!!! and So hot! Gotta have it!!! as my way of paying respect.
The Late Joan Rivers so much love for this lady

I didn't want to just completely copy the show and I don't think it would work anyway.  It's funny because your watching it (and because it's Joan Rivers of course!).  I do hair and make-up and they are my main areas of knowledge so I needed to bring that with an infusion of Fashion Police to make It's Beauty Bitch.
